Resume Question
 

A friend of my dad flys part time for a guy. He may be able to get me a job and wanted me to send him a resume. I was curious what you put in the job objective line for a corporate job? I am so used to applying to airlines and putting "Career Pilot Employement with....." or "To obtain a pilot position with...." Does anyone have any recommendations for good objectives for the corporate world? Thank you!

mine has always said "Professional Pilot Employment"

not too creative, but it's to the point..and I (hopefully) don't think an objective line will be the deciding factor

To slip in as a pilot, rise through the ranks, and eventually take over the company.

That should do it.

Leave it off. Instead put a short summary statement:

Airline Transport Pilot with 5900 hours total time in worldwide FAR Part 91 corporate and Part 121 regional airline flight operations. FAA type rated PIC on the mighty Cessna 152, CRJ-200 and Space Shuttle. No accidents or violations, FAA 1st class medical.

Objectives are outdated. Unless gouge indicates that a particular company really wants to see them, I'd omit it. Particularly if it's a plain generic objective like "to obtain career employment."

If you are going to include one, make damn well certain that it includes the correct company name (IE don't address it to a different employer) and that the company name is spelled correctly. This last round of hiring I saw more than one example of both mistakes.

Yeah, if you are applying for a pilot job the obvious, implied objective is "fly airplanes and get paid".

In trucking they used to advertise driver jobs on the back of the truck

Get Miles
Get Paid
Get Home

and someone would always scratch 'Get laid' under that.
