thank you everybody for the information.
I have never heard of fish spotting before. It sounds like private individuals rather than companies secure contracts-is that right? Where is most fish spotting located? West coast, east coast, AK, anywhere there is water?
Thanks again

ALL areas within aviation are great for experience. Since you are currently working around a maintenance hanger I recommend you get an A&P ticket. That experience is priceless. I wouldn't spend all your time focused on an end goal of a big shinny jet. Enjoy the journey and the friends you make. Everyone comes with different backgrounds and stories. Just make sure you do everything well along the way and protect your reputation. You never know where that next job will come from.
I currently fly a 747 and never thought of that as my goal. I worked hard, was friendly to most and took pride in my work. I instructed, flew charter, corporate, air ambulance (world wide), got a four year degree and now have an airline gig. I wouldn't change anything and I have met some great friends along the way. Many have helped me and I do my best to return the favor.
I will stop my preaching. Just have fun!
