Special Issuance and Airline Apps
I am currently filling out Airline Apps and when it comes to the First Class Medical portion, it has a container for "limitations".
I have a Special Issuance of my First Class Medical for a history of something that I don't have anymore. On my certificate in the limitations box, it says "Not valid for any class after XX/XX/XXX." Do I put that into the container in Airline Apps? I'm going to be truthful, but I want to be truthful in a way that doesn't knock me out of the running even before I get a possible interview. Thanks! |
Can you get a new medical with no SI limitations? That would be best.

I doubt it. I'm on a 6 year authorization right now. Any idea what companies will have an issue? I've searched with no good answers.

I wouldn't be so sure. There are no limitations on your medical, So you can truthfully answer "none". Some applications will specially ask if you have a special issuance, for that I would reply yes.
The regionals are/will be hurting for pilots. If you've got the hours, you've got a shot. Also get out there to job fairs where you can meet recruiters face to face and possibly explain your situation or just hand them a resume and talk to them. Your resume doesn't have to list an SI, just list 1st class - no limitations. It's the review board on these airlines that will need to be convinced. If the problem is no longer an issue and only requires monitoring for 6 years to ensure no recurrence and a recurrence seems unlikely, then I would say you have an excellent chance. Good luck! |
