Doesn't seem right that they would not give you any info, but those internships are common.

The internships are common, but VERY competitive. I highly doubt this individual was competitive enough to land one (pun intended). I think he may have a little Frank Abagnale syndrome.....

That being said, sorry you have to deal with this. Good luck.

My son has been studying in an American University (i'm not american nor do i live in the US) for (only!) 2 and a half years, his goal was to become an airline pilot. I've been doubting wether he really was going to school the last few months, as he appears to have lots of free time, calling me all the time. Last month, he called and said that he graduated (in the middle of the year!?) and got an internship with a major airline(Delta), where he was in charge of flying an airbus A 319 from New York to some city(I forget the name). When I confronted him he sent me a bunch of pictures of him wearing a pilot uniform, and some pictures from hi "cockpit". But I still have a lot of doubts.
Could you please tell me if my son's story is plausible? I'm probably just being paranoid, but still, his story does'nt seem to add up.
Thank you for your help.
in my opinion your son is lying to you

Are these kinds of internships common? does his university have to have an agreement with Delta for him to get such an internship? I've just called them but they wouldn't give me any information. I guess all that's let to do is go there.
call the UNIVERSITY and ask if they have any agreements/partnerships with Delta internship stuff.

If your son is in the Seattle/Tacoma area, I will take it upon myself to visit him and report back to you.

On the bright side, no matter what he is actually doing, he's making more money than he would as a pilot.

So he's definetly still not a pilot, but if he had an internship would it have been listed on the site ?

I am sorry to hear about your situation & I can understand your frustration as a parent whose child is acting & behaving the way he is.....

We all were like that once in our youth, a little bit of reckless...

Your son's situation could be same, if it is just a little lie to gain more popularity with his friends back home.

However, if the trend continues, it MAY turn into a very serious situation.

Many a youth have made a small mistake, that completely ruined their life.

There is a way to put him on a leash & hopefully he will mend his ways.

Use & the " STICK & CARROT" approach.

DO NOT TELL HIM THAT YOU CAUGHT HIS BLUFF......

Just make a story up that a similar thing happended with the daughter of a friend or freind's friend, who went to USA & never went to college & just spent the 4 yrs partying etc....

Tell him that you are sure that his son would never do something like that but still that incident has you scared & now, going forward, you need to be on the top of things......

So, if he needs a penny more and that includes this months living expenses, he will need to sign an authorization form which allows you to talk to anyone in his university on his behalf & allows the university officials including the Dean, to talk to you about his studies & stay in USA & allows them to send you a copy of his transcripts via fax or FEDEX directly to you.

Be strict & make sure that your wife, his mother does not send him any money behind the back. Mothers tend to have a soft corner for the sons.

Initially he may resist, play angry, play the innocent kid with the MOM angle, but when the money does not come, he will cave in or begin to mend his ways.

Controlling his money is the only way you can control him.

A surprise visit will not hurt either.....

Best of Luck.....
