Geez I hope not. That's the jacka** CA of United flight 638 (A320) from Denver to Baltimore, who diverted to ORD and called the cops on two parents traveling with their 6 and an 8 year olds that dared to complain to the FA's that showing an unedited version of the PG-13 film "Alex Cross" was inappropriate. My son has been studying in an American University (i'm not american nor do i live in the US) for (only!) 2 and a half years, his goal was to become an airline pilot. I've been doubting wether he really was going to school the last few months, as he appears to have lots of free time, calling me all the time. Last month, he called and said that he graduated (in the middle of the year!?) and got an internship with a major airline(Delta), where he was in charge of flying an airbus A 319 from New York to some city(I forget the name). When I confronted him he sent me a bunch of pictures of him wearing a pilot uniform, and some pictures from hi "cockpit". But I still have a lot of doubts.
Could you please tell me if my son's story is plausible? I'm probably just being paranoid, but still, his story does'nt seem to add up.
Thank you for your help.
Was he the guy that tried to get a ride in the US Air cockpit last month?

I tent to assume that the version of events which prompted the CA to actually divert was "filtered" by the cabin crew. My guess is that word "PG-13" were never spoken on the cabin interphone...but words like "harass", "intimidate", "threaten", "uncooperative" probably were. The CA probably just knew that he had a problem in the back, and wasn't about to unbuckle, unlock the door, and go back there.

I'll occasionally mediate between pax and FA's...on the ground, before we shut the door.

Noted, as it was in the last few posts in this thread...

TMAAT you diverted over a PG13 flick

For the record, I now presume that my post above in THIS thread is off-base and would modify if I could. I should have suspected the cabin crew all along.

Default update?

I wonder if the OP ever got to the bottom of his son's story. As a parent, I can only imagine the kick in the gut this guy's parents are feeling......
I thank God for my children each day and hope OP's child turns it around and becomes someone they can be proud of (like I am of mine).

Call Delta and ask them about him. Look up a corporate number in ATL, explain your situation, and ask them to put you in touch with whom ever is in charge of their internship program.

I was a chief instructor for a college aviation program for a while. Fortunately this wasn't too big of an issue in our department, but its not uncommon for students to enroll in courses, take all of their grants and student loans, ditch classes and go buy a car or a big screen t.v. Parents would call the school asking why little Johnny hasn't graduated yet after x-number of years and $50K and the school's reply was "Johnny who?"

Colleges have certain regulations regarding student privacy (FERPA) but you might want to call the school to inquire and see what kind of information they are willing to give you.
