When my Roommate when down to express this summer he watched two or three walk out because of paperwork.

That is where I learned my anal tendicies about paperwork
Express said that was the deal in their email, and I guess they stick to it

Most everybody is that way. Some will let you know it right off the bat and send you packing if you don't have your stuff in order.

Part of the reasoning behind it is simple... if you can't correctly fill out the application, how can the company determine that you're going to properly fill out the paperwork that is required to keep the company running and fully legal?

Things like crew rest/duty sheets, timecards, aircraft flight logs, maintenance writeups, and dispatch releases are all a lot more complicated than filling out your ten year history...

You will get a BIIIIG list of what to bring to the interview (if you don't have all your old W2s or employment records, you better call the IRS now to get copies of your old tax returns). As I recall, it was quite the laundry list of items.

Not yet but hopefully I'll hear. I've been printing out gouges for them. Tonight I've been reading part 91 all over again and doing the basics. Tomorrow I'll start going through systems. I just want to be prepared that's all. I've never actually had an interview before. So I'm wanting to make sure i get all my ducks in a row . After the first one it should get easier lol.

For the XJT interview: If I am currently a full-time student and have been my whole life up to this point, I wouldn't need my old W2's if there are no unemployments gaps is that right? I thought thats what the note in the packet they gave me said which reads: If you
have verified your previous employer’s numbers and contact personnel for
our verification, you do not need to provide any tax forms for that time
frame.

just clarifying so I don't not take those forms if I'll need them

You may not need them. I had worked for a couple of places that were no longer in operation so I had no other way of verifying that those places actually existed. I have been told (note: unofficial, do not, repeat do NOT take this as gospel) that being a student is fine as long as you can verify through transcripts or school records that you were indeed enrolled for the dates you specified. When in doubt, call the HR department and ask the questions.

I had a flaw with that when my room mate was told the same thing

I dont save tax info any longer than 7 years. So for the first three years of my past ten I have no tax info on.

I am not sure if I could file a form with the IRS to get them or not

I interviewed with XJT. They said to have the stuff in the order they wanted. So I had it in the order they wanted and also I put each item in sheet protectors as well as had extra copies. I put it all in a leather binder. I found that I liked that a lot better than the briefcase since I could have it open and ready when ever I needed it without having this big case sitting in front of me. Just look professional and get the stuff in the order. Not that hard if you can read and have half a brain.

Document list

If you are still looking for a list of required documents here is a downloadable list... http://airlinepilotmentor.com/documentprep.aspx

Good Luck

ImperialxRat 03-11-2007 11:23 PM

That list didn't indicate anything about tax information. Can someone elaborate on that?

I don't know what happened to my previous W2's

APM145 03-12-2007 10:07 AM

W2

It has a Number listed for the IRS to get your W-2 history faxed to your home.

(Several airlines require candidates to bring W-2's to verify periods of unemployment. When not in school or employed a W-2 will show that the candidate was in fact not collecting compansation from an employer. This will show they are not hiding a problem in their employment past. The number for the IRS office is 1-800-829-1040)

Good Luck
