Guess that depends on the strength of the relationship ;)
Early in my adult life, my flying goal was definitely more important than any relationship at the time. I had one shot at that goal. Plenty of fish in the sea. |

It's hard. It was a lot easier when I was a senior FO and could bid his days off. Now we just make the most of our time together when we have it. When we met we were already working at our current places of employment so this is all we know and we find a way to make it work for us. It's definitely not for everybody.

If you go into the Guard enlisted, become a Crew Chief. Valuable career field for your future flying. I wouldn't trade being a Crew Dawg for nothing else.

That's what I just said. The Guard is the ANG...Air National Guard.

Is it best to go enlisted now at 17 and wait to become an officer, or just wait to apply after recieving my degree?
That call is up to you and your family. Everyone's situation will be different. If you have the money for college, go. Join that institutions' ROTC program. If you enlist, you can still go to college and not have to pay a dime. It may take a little longer, but it can be done. You get a roof over your head, clothes, at least three meals, free health care, a job, and a paycheck. There are three ways to become an officer: the Academy, ROTC, and OTS. All three can be done while either enlisted or in college. Your choice. You're at the point where you have to start putting your "big boy pants on" ;) |

You need a degree first right?
Like I said, you have options. You and your family will have to choose what's right for you. Make no mistake though, what ever you do, you're gonna have to bust your butt to make it happen. Hard work does pay off later down the road. |
