First Big Career Decision

Sorry to start a new thread asking the same 121/135 question but everyones case is different. Currently I am 29 years old living in DFW and have been flying a Lear 31A for the last 2 years but it is time to move on. We only fly about 10 hours per month and I know if I ever want to reach my dreams of Fedex or another heavy international carrier its time to start looking. From everything I read the majors would like 121 time or if its 135 it needs to be in aircraft 30,000lb plus. The chances of finding a challenger/gulfstream job with my time is very unlikely so I am thinking of heading to the regionals. I am single with money saved up so I can suck it up and take the low pay/poor qol for a few years if it helps my career. Any advice that y'all have would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah looks like regionals is the way to go given your TT and career goals. Take into account likely upgrade time when you decide where to go.

I would like to fly only 10hrs a month live in DFW and make more money than I make at my regional... Where do I sign?

Thats what everyone tells me. I have the retired/married mans dream job, part 91, 10 hours a month, great pay, a fantastic owner. If I was married and had no dreams of flying the world for an airline/corporation I wouldn't be in the predicament.

I am probably the least qualified guy to give career advice but still here's my 2 cents.

If you eventually want to fly for an international carrier, are single, have money saved & have the ability to move to base, then going to a regional will make perfect sense to get your TT up.

Just make sure you join a company where you can fly an a/c greater than 30 tonnes, basically CRJ700 or higher. Remember, JET GLASS 121 time, the heavier the better.

IM nearly in the same exact position.

24 yrs old, currently PIC in a Part 91 jet but only fly about 10hrs a month. Have the same aspirations as you and need a kick in the rear one way or another. Am I stupid for leaving a job like this? Anyone else have any advice?

Why would u leave that job to commute and starve in a regional. I did for 6 years and I would if given my left nut to have your job. One day you will regret leaving

Pretty sure he gave his reason: wants to fly heavy jets international.

It's overrated.
