Thomas Edison State College or Utah Valley U
Hello everyone,
I have narrowed down my 2 most preferred institutions as far as completing my 4 year degree goes. I have a 2 year Associate which is pretty much useless if your trying to get to the Majors from what I understand. Wondering which has the best reputation-Thomas Edison State College or Utah Valley University? Both are accredited and both offer online degree programs which is what i'm going after since I work full time and am a parent. Thanks! |
And btw, looking at an aviation degree since I will be able to transfer credits from my Associate in Aeronautics plus my ATP.
Thanks |
Both are great schools and fully accredited. Go ahead and weigh both schools as far as price/completion time/etc and choose the one that best suits YOU in that regard.

As recent as 2003, TESC accepted DANTES tests as credit. Banged out many a class this way....saved thousands.
Check out a textbook at the library, read, take DANTES test ($30-ish, I think), pass and get credit for class. Probably took 15 of these. If you're even mildly self motivated, you can save a bunch. |

I did as many as possible classes at the community college I went to, transfered to Thomas Edison. Even though I've been one class away for a few years, I'm happy with Edison.

TESC grad here. I don't know about the other school, but TESC was REALLY flexible. Over 60% of my requirements were knocked out by standardized testing.

I looked into UVU a few years ago and ERAU (Worldwide Campus) turned out to be a cheaper option because they didn't charge to transfer credits. At the time I had an AA and Private through MEI ratings and other than the 30 credit hour residency requirement, I was able to fill in the rest with CLEP and DANTES tests. I took ten classes and was done.

With that said, by all means pursue a 4 year degree, but don't get delusional and think that a degree from Utah whatever state is going advance your career ambitions any more than a degree from Anywhere University |
