No overnights
 

Just wondering if any more companies (airline or corporate) are going the way of no overnights, whereby a pilot flies x number of trips a day and gets to sleep in their own bed, a la Allegiant?

most companies have some local trips, usually two or for legs, which tend to go somewhat senior.

But most companies will always have a lot of overnights. Airlines have late night arrivals and early am departures from out stations to support pax connecting to hubs... those will never go away.

corporate operators usually want the pilots to stay with the plane unless it's a very long stay in which case it might be cheaper to send them home on an airline for the duration.

Basically not going to happen.

Walmart was like that ten years ago. Mostly day trips. Sadly that went away

FedEx has a lot of "out and backs". Fly one leg out, 2 or 3 hours on the ground, then fly one leg back home. We have these on both the AM and PM side. You spend every day or night in your own bed. The down side is you need to live In Memphis to take advantage of these trips.

Hawaiian's 717 fleet does zero overnights. Plenty of senior guys stay on the aircraft so they can sleep in their own bed every night. Carry your lunch to work with you instead of dragging a suitcase.
