Checkride Failures

We have had tons of threads on this subject- use the search function at the upper left to find them. The subject has not changed a lot over the years, although leniency has increased a bit lately.
As the above post says, instructor busts are not counted as heavily as normal check events. From my experience with regionals, most airlines count them as extra credit. Teaching certs are not required to fly airliners and many successful pilots do not have them. Some FSDOs have terrible pass rates. If you busted one or more, disclose it and tell what you learned. Never make excuses.
The other check events enjoy less leniency. One failure is ok with most airlines, two is pushing it, three is really pushing it. Four, forget airlines until you establish a strong flying record somewhere else. The oversupply of pilots over the years has pushed the standard for failures pretty high and some airlines still want a spotless record. Eagle had a policy of accepting NO failures of any kind, even traffic tickets- but I think they relaxed it to allow one or two last year.

To your question Clarance seems like neither has been much of an barrier recently. I know guy who has 3 bust hired recently. Although his was private twice CFI once. I think the private is often weighted less if you pass your instrument and comms first try. I know a legacy carrier just hired some FOs out a regional who had failed upgrade. I have also know a few guys who have been hired with dwis recently. Maybe consider doing your MEI and breaking the streak of checkrides. Keep your head up your career isn't over. Oh and congrats on the CFII.

You always get a chance to explain yourself in an interview. Find someone with hr experience and have what you want to say ready to go. Recency seems to be an issue, I know a guy with a previously perfect record and literally failed his check right before the interview. They told him to reapply in 365 days and if his record is good, he would have the job.

Delta asks to see ALL your Forms 8 (Air Force checkrides)--or whatever your service' equivalent--and the table of contents page to make sure you don't conveniently forget to include certain rides. They ask you to bring all your Officer Performance Reports too. Delta hired seven out of eight in my interview group--every single one military.
