Default Airline Apps ???

There are a few spots on Airline Apps that reference military "stuff". Like in the aircraft type there is a spot to check "military" for the aircraft if you are a military pilot. Also the military sortie section.

I am a contractor flying military aircraft along side active duty military pilots on military combat sorties. SO what are some opinions on whether or not to check the military boxes or not? I am inclined to not check them but would also like to get some sort of credit for flying combat sorties just as if I were an active duty military guy. I just wonder if checking that block gets the computer to pull your app to the top or not. I would hate to get tossed out of an interview for checking he wrong block though. I am retired military but flying as a contractor now.

Opinions?

Tough call. If you're a retired military aviator, doing the same tactical flying for Uncle that you did on AD, you could make the case that it's all apples to apples and the exact nature of your paycheck is irrelevant.

But if you've never been a rated military aviator I would not check those boxes.

The conservative approach would be to not check them, and log the time as civilian. You can explain it at the interview and hopefully get any "bonus points" at that time.

I'm leaning towards checking "Military" for it. Mostly to get the best bang for my C-12 flight hour buck.

We log it to Army flight time logging. Takeoff roll to engine stop. Not block to block. I'm a reservist, and I've flown the same plane on active duty, that I fly as a contractor.

I can explain with a straight face why I log the Army birds the same way I log USN C-12s.

I tend to agree with you. When I'm flying within small arms range of the bad guys it shouldn't matter if I'm wearing cargo pants or army greens. I think that contractors doing the exact same missions as active duty in military aircraft is such an isolated thing that they don't make any sections it. I believe it would be a legitimate explanation too.

I just don't want to get som Tom Cruise wannabe at an interview that has heartburn about it. If it just does the time conversion them no big deal I can add the .2 myself but if you get extra credit for combat sorties I want my fair credit.
