Airline pilots-do you like/love your job

I've always wanted to fly since I was little; I'm 19, have my PPL and am working on my IFR rating. I've always wanted to be an airline pilot, but it seems like all of the pilots hate their jobs...? Any advice?

Not me. I've loved my job at Delta since the day I got hired and it's only gotten better with seniority. I enjoyed sitting at the FE panel flying red eyes to Anchorage getting paid B scale wages and i now enjoy even more flying left seat to Europe and Asia. Time away from the family can be rough, but i went on more field trips with my kids than any of the other dads in their school.

I can't see myself doing anything else. Some days I love it. Some days I hate it. But always, I can't see myself doing anything else.

I absolutely love. I'd rather be up there looking down here than down here looking up there. I felt that way at a regional, and I feel that way at a major.

It is better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than to be in the air wishing you were on the ground

I gotta say that after 35+ years of flying I can't of what I would do if I had to get a real job. The worst day in the cockpit beat the best day in the office hands down.

However, leave yourself and out... a degree in an area other than aviation.

Just don't read the latest and greatest from the Delta section. Keep in mind that most forums attract the whiners. It's the nature of the beast!

Absolutely love the job and the industry as well as the company I work for. (B6) I do not see myself anywhere else doing anything else.

Every career has pluses and minuses, but there is no other career that gives me satisfaction like putting on the uniform and flying an airliner.

Best of luck in your pursuits!
