1. C150 + Mogas
2. Fly what you can, log what you need.

If I had a dollar for every time I've seen the second one.....

The FAA defines Flight Time as:

"Pilot time that commences when an aircraft moves under its own power for the purpose of flight and ends when the aircraft comes to rest after landing;"

So not sure if you could even log it unless you do a trip in the pattern.

Not to mention there'd be a huge discrepancy between the Hobbs time and the tach time unless you ran at a high power setting (in which case you may as well fly anyway).

No, people don't rent to 1500. They build time, get entry level instructing or commercial positions and actually learn a little about flying while building their time to 135 or ATP minimums.

And I don't believe for a second that the OP was not considering this considering he's tried to excuse it in several further posts. If this is your attitude about honesty then do us all a favor and stay out of the cockpit and the airways.

That was the result of more than just a cruise pilot and a captain up front. More to the story than that. If you have one idiot and one experienced guy you might get through the emergency. When you have 2 idiots and the seasoned captain in the back you end up with air france. Obviously this is just my opinion so don't troll all over me for expressing it.

They aren't trying to save money... most of them are scared of their own shadow, much less actually flying....

I only further mentioned my lack of intent after I had been questioned about it. Obviously, I'm going to stand my ground on that.

Your assertion that I have a bad attitude for flying based on my irrelevant post is irrational. I love flying and I don't care what you believe.

I have my commercial ride coming up soon and I plan on flying freight, as per a connection I made working a line job. 8 hours a day refueling jets in the hot sun hoping to gain valuable exposure and be around airplanes. The passion is there and I don't have to prove it.

Plus, this is the internet and we all could be liars. Please relax. Thanks.

Wrong. I know of at least 3 people that are doing this. Including myself. Its called being in a field that makes you money and has nothing to do with aviation. Thats how you fund yourself to 1500 hours without having to instruct.

It can be done, buying a 152 or equivalent can probably drive the hourly cost below $50.

Upside: You can do it at your convenience, flying as much as you can stand to so you can get to 1500 much faster.

Downside: This is not commercial experience, ie there is no pressure to perform, you don't have to make hard calls with Wx, MX, etc. or balance the needs of the boss, customer, and safety. Given a choice airlines would prefer someone who was getting paid to fly. But regional airlines don't really have a choice anymore...

If you're going to do it, make sure you get get night, XC, and IMC.
