Default Start flight training at 27

Hello all,

I am sure that you are tired of reading the same threads over and over, however, I am still inclined to ask for advice. I am currently 25 about to hit 26 and want nothing more in life than to be working as a pilot. I obtained my PPl about a year ago I was going to do the whole ATP flight school thing from PPL to CFI in about 4 months but couldn't do it due to my financial situation. I took up I.T and am earning around 50,000k currently and about to hit 70,000k in about 6 months. The money is sweet especially because I do not have a family and barely have any bills, I already have a bachelor's degree and a PPL. My question would be, would it be too late to save up and keep my current job for another two to three years and then continue my flight training or should I drop everything and go for it now at age 25. I know I will be making around 25 to 30k as a FO but Idc I cannot imagine myself doing anything else, all I do all day is daydream of becoming a pilot, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced

I think you just answered your own question. Just make sure you don't mind working for a few years at a regional and dealing with the BS starting at your next job.

Do what you love, and the rest will take care of itself.

Bonus points if you can also pick your spouse carefully, and stay healthy.

That should about cover it.

Assuming that was a question...

Keep your current job and save up while continuing to work on your ratings. If you get to your CFI and still want to fly for a living you will know it, and you will then have the savings to help support you through the years when your earnings will be meager. Whatever you do, do not rush into this career. At your age you have time to burn. It's a long way to age 65. Spend some of it in careful consideration and saving up for the future, whatever it brings.

Ok, here's my .02 cents. You have an excellent "fall-back" skill-set; heck, you can even run an IT company on the side f need be. If I had a burning desire to be an airline pilot (I did and still do) - go for it!! Spend your last dime but keep moving forward. Be prepared to move around a lot chasing those "stepping stone jobs" until you finally reach your goal. BUT, before you even start, decide how long you are prepared to pursue the flying career and at what age you will stop and go to your fall-back position - I recommend 40. After 40, you will be more interested in earning a certain lifestyle than chasing a dream. My son is 23. I put him thru college and hates the 9 to 5 grind. He's going to try and get a loan (not from me), some kind of educational loan and go the ATP Flight School route. He also has a fall-back if things don't work out, but one thing for sure, he will be saddled with a very large debt that will take years to pay-off

I appreciate the feedback ,I think I will complete my certifications while working rather than rushing and just joining an accelerated pilot program as someone mentioned.

You have to find your passion. A few questions to consider...
1. What could you talk about all day with someone until they poke their eyes out?
2. What do you enjoy and would do it for free?
3. Same as above but for Ramen Cup Noodles.
4. And most importantly, what makes you feel like you made a difference; that feeling of accomplishment?

Edit: If you are set on becoming A Professional Pilot, you want to start exposing yourself full time now that
your in mid-late 20's. Hang out at the airport as much as possible. Get a part time job, move back home or get a room, and start taking lessons more frequent.
