Application: tickets that are off DMV record?
#11
Just for clarification it's not the DMV that the airlines pull your record from, it's the National Drivers Registry (NDR). The records are a complete history not just 7 to 10 years. Do yourself a favor and list everything they requested. The last thing you want to do is be hired only to be told in the middle of ground school that you are no longer welcome.

Not true. NDR only shows major action like suspension or revoked etc. There is no master server with all Americans ticket history. Many small towns don't and aren't required to send ticket info to the dmv. Some don't want the sate to know how many tickets they issue, esp during budget cuts. The local clerk of court may still have a record though even if the dmv doesn't. If they don't then it didn't happen
Without the proper paper work, it didn't happen, is the FAA's well established view.

The above reply is correct regarding the NDR and no master server for tickets. Look, if you want to know exactly what the airlines will see on you it is very simple:
1. Order your PRIA records from FAA.
2. Order a copy of your NDR file.
3. Order a copy of your DMV records.
4. Order a copy of your states Department of Justice records.
5. Order a copy of your FBI Identity History Summary (criminal history record).
6. Order a full background SS# check on yourself using any reputable online background check company.
7. If prior military, review your complete discharge paperwork.
The only variable to the above is item #1. Some legacy airlines order your full airman file from the FAA. That will contain your PRIA and your primary training records from flight school. Other than that, it is not a mystery what they have access to.

I have no problem disclosing the couple of speeding tickets I've had over the years. My problem is that -I- don't have a record of them, and neither does my state DMV. It shouldn't be in the NDR because as others stated, that only contains serious offenses. So I guess my only way of restoring that info is to order a background check on myself. Or guess

Thanks, all! Seems that the overwhelming consensus is to list them anyway and let the recruiters laugh at it Seriously, if an improper U-turn 15 years ago is a problem, I can't see how any normal human can get a job ever! So I'll take a wild guess as to when the tickets were.
Along the same lines, college GPA? Seriously? Do they really care?

If his app is for the regionals then he is best just listing the ticket anyway and giving an approximate date. A 15 year old speeding ticket is not going to dealbreaker at any regional that I know of given the current hiring climate. Then at least he can get his name in the hat that much quicker and hopefully get a sooner class date than if he waited around for several weeks waiting for all of these reports to come in from various government agencies. Of course that is assuming that he only has a couple of minor traffic offenses. Major traffic offenses are a different story.
