Intro and advice wanted
1st post here. A bit about myself. Currently an ATC supervisor at large terminal facility. Quickly approaching retirement eligibility. Looking to go to the "other side" of the system and fly. 2300 hours mostly SEL, 500+ hours of flight instructing. 25+ hours of multi and climbing slowly. Would like to start with a FO position at a regional type carrier. Based on the current trend I believe this is possible, and the pay issues with a position like this will be softened by having the retirement income.
Anyway, 1st of I'm sure are many questions is: Should I plunk down my own money for a CTP course before I interview? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice. |
I've been out of the regional world for a long time, so I can't necessarily answer your question, but based on your career and flying experience I bet you'll transition into the regional environment just fine.
The only thing that you might have to get up to speed on are glass cockpit displays and flight management systems. Congrats on retirement! |
Do not pay out of pocket for a CTP course the airline will do it for you.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the transition!
