ATP schools prior to Majors

I have 5000 hours and am making a transition from fires/bush flying to 121. My ATP written expires in March and plans for getting the ATP with a regional fell through. I think my best option is to get it at an accelerated school then skip the regionals and apply to the majors. I can do a "glass" online course to help with the transition from dials. Any advice for an ATP school etc? Do I need to get it in a twin or can I save money and do it in a single?

All ATPs is an option... You can also do a combo 737 type and ATP at Higher Power… just a couple that have good reviews and quick turn around times.

No offense meant, but do you think you're ready to jump into the majors? What are you flying currently?
It may be a big jump to just pop into an A320 for transcons. Not implying you can't do it, just a thought.

I have 2500 multi, 1600 SIC turboprop. I know a guy that went from a Caravan into the right seat of a 757. I am willing to give it a try and if not, then start with Regionals.

I agree with skipping the regionals if at all possible. Unfortunately, your best might be to apply and attend a job fair or two and ask the recruiters directly. I am assuming you are woman. If so, have you considered the WAI? That's your best bet.

I'd get a multi ATP and then start applying… attend a couple career fairs, get some recs, and you'll be good to go. Good luck.

You absolutely need to get it in a multi. The ATP rule requires a multi-ATP; for 121 purposes a SEL ATP is nearly worthless.

If you aspire to skip the regionals, I'd beg, borrow, and steal to get your multi-ATP complete before your written expires. Even if it means calling every FBO in the state to find out who will accommodate your situation and prepare you for the practical.

There's gotta be some school somewhere in the nation that has spots to take the checkride. It would be a waste to let that written expire.
