Transitioning to the digital log book.
 

As a Military guy, all my flight time was done the old fashion way. Now before applying to the airlines I summarized all my flight time Monthly into an excel spreadsheet. Now with a regional...I'm trying to figure out the best way to log time. I want to switch to electronic...and only have heard of log book pro. Is this the gold standard....or are there other opinions/options people like? Is it easy to convert Mil time (written) into Log Book Pro (electronic)?

I use Logten Pro and love it! However, it's only for Apple products. No matter what electronic logbook you choose, you might want to pay to have a company transpose everything over to electronic. Otherwise, you'll be spending months converting it over yourself!

Or you could just carry forward what you logged into the electronic logbook rather than going back and manually entering everything.

Worked for me and no way I was gonna try to re-log over 8,000 hrs when I made the switch.
To much room to introduce errors.

I thought that was what months on Reserve are for? :D

I'll probably just do this....since I've already summarized it in excel.

Logbook Pro is good stuff. You'll spend time entering the data but look at it this way : once it's done it's done. You'll go fully electronic from that point on. Make sure to back up your database file to a thumb drive or off site back up facility. Your hard drive will fail one day.

Logbook Pro will also allow you to import that spreadsheet as a csv file.

The desktop version is free!! can't beat that. If you want more features and linking to your airline or phone, etc, then you pay one time fee.

plus it will import from almost anything you have and it will work on most devices.

a few years back I entered all my data into excel, it was a PITA but really helped when every airline asks you to list your time in a different way. But after I checked out mcc pilotlog, I stopped using my spreadsheet.
