Aviation Degree Online
Neighbors son has 60 credits plus all his CFI ratings.
Anyone recommend a good online college to finish up? Aviation management or Flight Operations. |
An aviation degree is pretty useless unless you're using it to get into 121 with less than 1500 hours.
I think UVU has an online program, but Im pretty sure instrument and commercial have to be done 141. Shouldn't your neighbor's kid be doing the research? |
I tried a few schools and finished through Liberty. They accepted all of my ratings and previous credits a had an excellent curriculum. The school and the instructors were all very accomodating. If he or his parents are Mil or vets it's $250/credit with no tech fees and a $100/class book voucher.

If he or his parents are mil or vets they have fantastic discounts. $250/credit plus $100/class book voucher and no tech fees. He could finish in a year for about $8k total. I agree that for a new student a degree in other than aviation is best. However, applying ratings is the fastest way to finish a degree. After you're hired you'll have a couple years on reserve and/or in a crash pad to get an MBA as a back-up in case you need it. |

Flight ops or Aviation management? |
I did everglades Univ. It was decent. Expensive. They took a ton of credits, like more than half of what was required to graduate. I had 70+ from Community college and flying.

Unless you're learned a trade you're planning on practicing, it's a place holder, qualifier, letters by your name. For checking a box, an aviation degree is as good as any other degree. |
Eastern New Mexico University online. About as inexpensive as you'll get, if you can stomach the head of their program.

The OP shouldn't be checking a box, he should be getting an education. Aviation is a craft, not worthy of a degree, but lots of it does require a degree--engineering, law, teaching.

GF For those seeking employment as a pilot, no one particularly cares about the discipline of the degree. Let's not equate a degree with an education. The two are not the same. |
