Airlineapps PIC
I know this topic has been covered before but I noticed a change when I was updating my app.
You can now add PIC time and Dual time without your Total times increasing. I wanted to do this so that my PIC time at the end added up to my logbook. Has anyone been entering it like this in airlineapps lately? |

I always have done it the old way. PIC+Instructor+SIC+Dual = Total time. You can only log one at a time.

It's not true that you can only log one of those at a time. An instructor can log instruction given and PIC, a student can log dual received and PIC if he/she is rated in the aircraft, etc. Read the regs that cover this.

Please enter ALL flying time on this page. Definitions: PIC = Pilot in Command Instructor = Instructor SIC = Second in Command Dual/Stud = Dual Received and/or Student Other = This is for military pilots only and allows you to report "other" time from your military flight records Flight Engineer = Only flight engineer time acquired in an airplane required to have a flight engineer by the airplane's flight manual or type certificate and while engaged in operations under part 121 or U.S. Military operations. Total = Total time in the aircraft as a pilot Enter your flight time totals in accordance with FAR Part 61.51. IMPORTANT: The system will automatically include your instructor time in the total PIC calculation. Therefore, do not include your instructor hours with your PIC time. For example, if you have 1000 hours of PIC time logged including 200 hours of Instructor time then you would enter 800 hours PIC and 200 hours Instructor. DEFINITIONS FROM THE FAA: Pilot in command means the person who: (1) Has final authority and responsibility for the operation and safety of the flight; (2) Has been designated as pilot in command before or during the flight; and (3) Holds the appropriate category, class, and type rating, if appropriate, for the conduct of the flight. Second in command means a pilot who is designated to be second in command of an aircraft during flight time. |

Merely my opinion - although I'm pretty sure I've seen certain applications explicitly state not to include sole manipulator PIC - but I chose not to include sole manipulator PIC on my applications; especially for the 121 side since sole manipulator does not exist.
Also, "sole manipulator" most definitely applies to Part 121 operations as it relates to the FARs. It is only a an airline application requirement that precludes it from being counted as PIC. |
