Canadians with advice.

Like a lot of people, I half completed my training 2007 and im looking to get back into things.

I made the decision to stop training to be there for my young kids.
Now they're a bit older spending 30 years behind a desk isn't looking nice especially reading the current status of hiring.

The prospects for jobs in the Canadian market seems very limited compared to the US.(There's barely any regionals, cargo etc)
Right now Mesa are giving a 30k hiring bonus with what seems very minimal TT

What are the chances of getting hired by a regional or cargo company in the US once I have my requirements?

Ultimately I would like to fly for an American major or perhaps overseas.

Thanks for all your help.

I don't know anything about Canada, but if I were you I would take a little more in depth look at Mesa in the regional subforum. 30k hiring bonus is a little misleading and they are still the lowest paid regional jet operator in the US. Any AA wholly owned (Piedmont, PSA, Envoy), Endeavor, or Commutair will offer you substantially higher pay and a path to a US Legacy Airline.

If you don't have a US Passport or permanent resident card, then your chances are pretty much 0.

If you are a US citizen or have a green card, your chances are 100% unless you have a felony or something.

And avoid Mesa.

Regionals are expanding and hiring like crazy in Canada. There aren't enough qualified candidates and many people with commercial licenses are being hired. Check Jazz, Sky Regional and Georgian.
You stand a better chance of being hired into a regional jet in Canada if you're low time or commercial licence only.

I just saw that on their site, I had to do a double take.
They must really need pilots.
What are their normal mins? 1500TT

I'm pretty sure they're taking guys with less than 1500. Maybe 1000 or so. Still direct entry captain spots at Georgian and Sky.
F/O's upgrade the minute they hit the minimums. I think Sky is 4000 total and two years on type for an upgrade.

Stay out. Take a canadian job. Go where you're needed, and it's not here. What's with you fuzzy little foreigners? Have you no loyalty to your mother country?
