This one really wasn't too bad though, compared to WIA and OBAP.
They only charged $80 for admission and for those lucky enough to score a Fast Pass, it was included with their ticket. This event was capped at 1000 folks. Out of that number, there were only 380 Fast Pass spots for United. They sold out in 3 minutes.
Now, what is a scam in my mind is that the airlines score your app higher for showing up to these events. Unfortunately, all of those that made the effort to get tickets to this event but were of the 620 who weren't able to get a slot with United, it now means nothing.
Apparently at last year's event, they didn't have the Fast Pass system, but just had the standard line. At the end of the day, there were some 50 folks that were at the back of the line that didn't get a chance to speak with a recruiter. United was kind enough to take their resumes still and give them "credit" for showing up. It doesn't look like that will happen this year, however. No Fast Pass, no chance to speak with a recruiter or even get credit. Perhaps there might be a solution in the works for this, I don't know.

G550,
It is just crazy how this whole recruiting process has morphed into being forced to attend these three organizations pay to play hiring fairs. If you are not female, black or gay it is ludacris that you'd have to attend one of these job fairs. These organizations no longer represent their black, female or gay members. They have simply become massive dollar printing machines.

I think it's also worth mentioning that these job fairs work as PR for the airlines that attend them.
They can say how much they support diversity, etc... by having a presence.
So basically, the career fairs are for everyone but the pilots.

Hopefully SW and DAL start a trend with the in house style.
Sure, the airlines will show up to the NGPA, WAI, OBAP, just not with recruiters and the cattle call meet and greets. Just a PowerPoint presentation showing what they look for, hiring numbers, etc.
Just from the "economics", seems as if the NGPA is the lowest cost, WAI being the highest cost.

I have heard time and time again that attending a job fair DOES NOT count as points, stars, plusses or unicorn farts towards getting selected for an interview.
I went last year and had fun doing everything over the course of three days there. I had a UA fast pass early, talked to two other companies with short lines before 10am, and then left when the other airlines lines were 2-3 hours long. It was beautiful weather and a great escape from the East. If its your first time I highly recommend it.
One job fair is enough for me though.

Agreed on all points above.
Heard from a source at American, that because of what this has all turned into, they won't be recruiting at an job fairs for 2017. It's all going in-house next year. Hope United follows suit. I know they had the mil-only event a couple months back but perhaps they will open one up to non-mil guys next time around.

......at one of the conventions previous, BK stated that unless you're a "superstar and REALLY stand out", it doenst help your app "score". However, they do keep track of recruiter contacts. Could he have been any more vague/ambiguous in that statement?
As far as DAL goes, an attendance will get your app "scored". Doesn't mean one will get an invite. It JUST means they will give your app a look and put it into their "Tier 1/2/3" system....
