I notice that all the other posts have been positive, so sorry to be the negative guy.

I think there is one important question that you need to ask yourself.

1. Is following this pursuit worth getting divorced? There is a high probability of that.

No one has mentioned that only having 85 hours at 30 is a stretch. It is going to take time to build up to 1200 hours where you can get a real flying job.

My best advice to you is to keep flying a passion. Having to rely on it for an income really changes the fun factor involved with it.

He is on track to draw retirement in 13 years. He could easily have his ATP, A&P, and degree by then and start at a regional with a lifetime income supplement.
Nothing wrong with that plan.
