Thanks, now that I understand the system I can play better. I now know that I can bid ANC 11 Capt on the next bid hoping that a follow on bid comes along on which I can hold 11 MEM CA. Knowing that all previous bids are cnx'd except lateral bids, if I can't hold MEM 11 CA on the second bid I just bid back to my current seat and my previous bid is CNX. If I can hold MEM then I keep my training slot from the previous bid and base transfer immediately back to MEM. While you can always get burned, understanding when a bid is CNX and when it is not gives great leverage to gaming the system. Especially since the union has established prior practices to fall back on.

That transfer would be their activation in their new domicile. They would have already activated from their previous bid in their previous domicile.

Under the def of activation date: "The date a pilot is released from training upon certified completion of IOE or, if training is not required, then on a date specified for activation by the Company."

It seemed that a base transfer fell under this heading because training was not required. But as SNAFU pointed out the example says something else, so off we go. As long as we understand all the rules it is easy to play going forward.
I would have thought so to but the transfers are listed in a different letter that comes out after the bid. I don't think this shows up except in the bus and the md because it doesn't really apply to anyother aircraft so in this case they are different. The dates in the transfer letter do not change or slide as does training in the initial or upgrade training letter because they are apparently different and have nothing to do with each other except for the bid which they came from. I'm sure there is someone out there who can explain this better than me.

Just to reiterate your understanding of bids. As alot of us junior guys just found out, your previous bid may not get cancelled (union agrees and cut a side deal with the company on this).

1st bid - ANC Capt.
2nd bid - MEM Capt.

If you haven't started training before the 2nd bid closes, you will/may not have your ANC Capt bid cancelled. It is purely at the discretion of the company to either train you as the previously awarded ANC Capt and then transfer your to MEM in no particular order, or they can train you according to your seniority in MEM. It is solely at the discretion of the company. This is what all the stink was about on the last bid.
