Jumpseaters are not allowed any where on campus except to/from the airplane and the Jumpseat room.

Would an HR rep come down to meet someone in the jumpseat room to take their resume?

The jumpseat room is at the airport. The HR office is a few miles away at an office complex on FedEx property.

ETA: I don't have your answer, since I'm not in FedEx HR, but my question would be "why would they do that?" I'd assume (and you know what assume means) that they have plenty of resumes that were submitted in a way that were requested. Don't think they need to go out of their way and find people. But, they do go to job fairs and meet and greet people, look over resumes, answer questions, etc.

No. Being on campus where you are not supposed to be or asking dumb questions like this will have you removed from the property. Security on campus is taken very seriously.

This technique is terrible. They will show you the door and black marked you for life. Don't do it. This isn't your average mom and pop 135 outfit. It is the world's most respected package delivery company. You are to respect its operation and honor its appliction process.

I was just recently hired at FedEx, and all the above posts are true. The pilot recruitment offices are in a secured building on a secured campus away from the airport. Face to face contact with pilot recruiters just isn't possible. About the only way to really get any leg up on the rest of the applicant pool is to know somebody higher up in the company (not just another FedEx pilot) who can pull your online application.

The best advice I can give you is:

1. Update your application as often as possible. I updated my app data about every week and uploaded an updated PDF resume about every month.

2. I've heard of some recently hired pilots who used an application review service. I personally did not, but the one I've heard tossed around is aerocrewsolutions.com.

3. Remember that your application is scored by a computer before any human ever sees it. So, think like a computer. Try to check as many boxes as possible, make sure your numbers are accurate and add up, and don't leave anything out. If you have two hours in a Cessna 152, make sure it's on your list. Nobody really knows how the computer scores your experience -- and those who do aren't talking -- so don't leave anything out even if you think it wouldn't matter.

4. You don't need to have an interview scheduled to start preparing. Look into Emerald Coast Interview Consulting. When I was doing my interview prep there were lots of pilots in the online webinars preparing for interviews they didn't yet have with a variety of carriers (ECIC isn't just FedEx prep).

5. Watch for FedEx to host another Pilot Career Expo, and be online ready to register the minute the application window opens. The expo we hosted earlier this summer filled up within minutes of the window being open.

6. This should go without saying, but DO NOT lie on the application or exaggerate. They WILL find out and you'll be out the door. The captains on the interview panel take your logbooks and other documents behind closed doors for a review during the interview process. I'm sure they're looking at more than just the last page of totals.

Good luck!

I have mil buddies in purple and they noted that recs dont work like they used to.... that they get ONE rec to give instead of doing several for everybody they know.
That makes getting a rec pretty hard.

Of one just hired who did some time in a 121 carrier, he noted that HR mentioned they knew he was interested and called him because his app had been on file since 2010, and only recently was being re updated every week, that tips the computer off that you are still actively dreaming about a job there, whereas if you've fallen off the updating wagon, they assume you must have been picked up by another big fish.

Regarding the expo, do you have to meet the minimum requirements for fedex to attend, or register for the expo, or can anyone attend?
I am interested in attending, but do not meet all the minimums on the fedex pilot credentials website, and cannot fill out a profile...but DO have a global pilot credentials profile.

Best way to see FedEx HR is to attend any job fair where they are present. Do not Jumpseat into MEM and think that will do any good.

Expo is good too when we have another.

Put in your app and update it weekly (you don't need every day you fly).
