I thought the same....is there a way to tell it it's DOD or not?

If it is a Quantas or Polar flight you are fine. Giant (GT) could be an AMC load. Keep in mind that right now Atlas is running hours and sometimes days late, you need to check the schedule a couple times before going to the airport.

I'd also recommend trying to catch the flights from HNL; about 3 per week going to Australia from HNL. You can meet the crew at HNL fuel farm area near Enterprise rent a car - walk to the fence at the end of the road and tell the security agent you are waiting for the Atlas Crew van to come thru. You can dress business casual, and go totally casual once in flight. Expect one or two catered meals for yourself - and a 1st class seat, or possibly a bunk.

You can return to HNL via Hawaiian Airlines, its a bit of a pain but it did work. Pay $75 at the check in counter @ 8pm - then take a jumpseat form to the entrance of Customs and "catch' the Hawaiian Captain for his signature. Return the slip to the ticket agent and get a boarding pass. For $75 I got a lie flat seat in First. Once in HNL though....I saw many completely full flights and got out on a AA jumpseat, for 2 legs all the way to Miami (horrible).
