UPS Interview sim prep
 

Hey everyone,

I am interested in some sim prep for a UPS interview. However, from reading the reviews, it seems like they will use whatever sim or FTD they have available at time of interview, from DC-8 to 767, from FTD to full motion level D.

Therefore, I have no idea what kind of sim to look for. What have those of you who recently interviewed done? It seems like they may have been favoring the 767 FTD lately. Anyone have any suggestions on where to get 767 sim time in the Northeast or Midwest?

Even if in the wrong airplane I imagine some prep is better than none, especially since I've been stirring a side-stick for some time.

I used the Pan Am Flight Academy in Memphis. They do prep for UPS and FedEx and they definitely do it well. The sim prep was in the 727 and I did my interview sim in the 767 (non-motion sim). I felt very well prepared after the sim prep and it was spot on for the interview sim. The key is that you get to practice a similar profile in a big airplane prior to the interview, even if it is a different airplane that you get at the interview. Their number in Memphis is 901-748-7500 if you are interested.

I know of a guy who does Sim prep and interview prep. I've heard great things about him regarding the sim. I used him for the interview prep for a UPS interview...he was SPOT ON! His name is Adam Hughes
513-604-3906. Its the best money you can spend prior to the interview!!! I believe his sim prep is done in CVG. He's been doing it for approx 14 years, and is a true pro.

I imagine the 72 FullMotion will get alot of the business in the near future as the crews come off the thing, everything else is running heavy FWIW,

I just had a buddy interview and he had to fly the 8! Yikes.

Poor sap has been flying an A320 for over 4 years and he had to fly the 8!

I've been flying airbus crap for 8 years and if I had to fly an 8 again I'd probably get a hernia.

Dont sweat the sim stuff. The sim is the easy part of the process. You either know what your doing or you dont.

Sorry to disagree with you Whale,

If you have been flying something small and fast you NEED to get a little sim time. The pointy nose things fly nothing like the bigger jets. You already know how to fly your jet but a big jet handles much slower etc and your corresponding corrections have too be different. Then again if you are already flying a transport cat aircraft the above advice does not apply...

I'm in class right now with UPS.

I had been flying all glass, speed tape stuff for the last 10 years, so I wanted some sim prep to cover the -8 or 72-. I did my sim prep on the 72- with AJ Singh from Pan Am in MEM. It was money well spent. I then also did an hour in a Frasca at my local flight school just to get more time looking at the six pack instruments.

I ended up getting the 76- for the eval, but the sim preps were well worth the time and money and if anything, they took some of the edge and nerves out of the sim eval.

Adam Hughes rocks, I did my sim prep with him as well and got to fly DC8 for my interview; almost felt over-prepared.
