How long were the lines to visit the FedEx plane?

There was this one guy in the Executive Lounge of the Airport Hilton that was checkin' us out with the telescope. Does that count?

So did you use the "tall ship" runway identifier in the APLC/PAT for take off? I had to do that once.

Naturally.

Speaking of PAT -- the DC-10 doesn't have them -- we were met in the parking spot in MEM on our return from that trip by a couple of engineering-type guys that had a PAT "box" they were carrying into the cockpit to find a place to mount it. I asked the guy carrying the box if he realized this was a DC-10, and he answered in the affirmative. When I asked if he was sure they wanted to put PATs on the DC-10s before they were converted to MD-10s he assured me that indeed they DID intend to put PATs on the DC-10s, and would have them all installed by July (I assumed he meant of this year).

Did y'all hear the rumor that Omni's deal for the retired NWA DC-10s fell through, and we're gettin' 'em?

Coulda been, coulda been. He had a bagel in one hand and the cream cheese had gotten on his chin, so it was hard to tell for sure.

I thought he was out of that business, and is now just a line slug. But your post does highlight that old addage: "Build a thousand bridges and ...................". I guess he's still not remembered as Pierre the bridge builder.

The Omni deal for the NWA DC10s did not fall through - we got 6 jets from NWA - flying 5 and one used for parts - you might be thinking of the ATA deal for the rest of NWAs DC10, ATA was getting 9 jets

In addition, on the MD-10/11 there is a single anteanna on the fuselage bewteen the wings, the DC-10 does not have this.
