I "think" the FedEx policy is if you have ever been a Capt. you can wear Capt. stripes in any position. I think it's confusing to the ground support folks that think they are talking to the Capt. when they are not.

I say make the over 60 ROPES wear 2 stripes! After all, they're not pilots anymore. I bet it would make some of them retire

Regards,

Mark

There was an FCIF(or e-mail) last year saying just the opposite. You wear what you're sitting in now; for the exact reason you stated about the groud folks.

He earned those stripes. What do you care? Let him wear them.

As for you Mark, I hope you're not serious. And yes, they are pilots! They are just limited by some anachronistic rule. You are just going to have to deal with them. Be glad they are along for the ride. Some of them have some great info/experience that can be gleaned just by listening.

Read the FOM. " Insignia commensurate with their present bid award."

Awarded FE= 3 NOT 4 stripes.

If your over 60 and still flying as an FE wearing 4 stripes you failed retirement. Wearing 4 stripes tells eveyone about your insecurity and lack of self esteem. OOOH look at me " I used to be important" or " I dont mind pouring coffee and doing the preflight in the rain. " But I obvoulsy have a problem with this percieved lesser job.

It is a tough choice on the insecurity issue the ropes wearing 4; or the captains feeling threatened by it. A kind word informing the senior about the change in the FOM is all thats required.

He should retire, If you cant, take them off, it is simple. It goes with the decision to go back to the panel.

It is not about what you have earned, its an insecurity issue. I think it shows disrespect to the Captain.
