Do I have to non-rev to get to a base or crash pad, nope, paid ticket on day 1, then rest period, then for the next two weeks fly maybe 7-8 legs, with travel to amazing destinations. If it was easy, everybody would do it. Man up, quit being a bunch of pussies.

Dang! Must not be ABX then. 17 days on, can work up to 17 of those 17, mandatory airline seat on the crapper, and 2-3 legs per day pending on what you fly. No one is being a ***** here man. Just shut up and drink your Guinness like the rest of us.

Wow! What a tough job this is. Let’s see, I commercial to work on their dime picking up pay for 50% of the commercial time, then stay at the DoubleTree LAX on their dime. Thursday, LAX-SWF-LAX, Friday R2, Saturday LAX-SWF-LAX. Sunday 1-7 followed by M, T, R2’s. Wed. LAX-MCO-LAX. At MCO I was allowed to have my cousin and a friend tour our aircraft as we were not at terminal. They had Steak and Lobster meals from our catering as there is way too much for us to eat. Thur. 1-7. Fri, commercial/limo to SUU. Sat. SUU to HIK and Sun, Mon (R2’s) days in Honolulu. Tues, HIK to ELM. Wed., ANC to JFK and home Thur, of course on their dime.

BTW. An R2’s is a 12 hour reserve where there is no defined distance You need to be from airport. I have been called twice (not an exception) in 9 years when on an R2’s. It pays 4 hours. I had 4 OT days at beginning of month and expect to go home with 100+ credit at $270.00/hr.

I am not by any means senior here at K4. It is just how it is at the best kept secret in aviation. *as long as your lifestyle permits being gone for 16 and off 15.

It is amazing to me (second career guy) what pilots who have never worked a real job in their life complain about.

New contract sounds great....you guys earned it...you starved to death the prior 7 yrs you have been there. My guess is everyone with a new contract can sing a similar version of that song...

HIK - ELM ?? Gee, I didn't know that you flew a 747 into Elmira, NY (KELM).

Oops, I see leaving the next day from ANC, must be K4 shorthand for Elmendorf AFB (PAED, FAA Ident EDF). Now wouldn't it be funny if a new crew scheduler mistakenly sent someone to Elmira, NY. That could never happen at ACMI outfit now, could it ?

Except it sorta kinda did at one carrier that shall remain nameless. One day, CS called an outbase commuter living in Shreveport, LA how quickly he could drive to LAX. Crewmember said how are you going to commercial me there. CS replied "You live in LA, don't you"?

I thought I was in the ballpark when I subtracted 7 from his 9 yrs at K4...what am I off by one yr? It was just a wag....either way you guys paid a huge price ( lost income wise ) being at bottom for yrs..not many would have done it. About time.

Just looked it up...yes I was way off it been 2 1/2...

Yet another reason 3 letter identifiers should go away. I can’t type them into the FMS, so they’re useless to a pilot.
