At MCO I was allowed to have my cousin and a friend tour our aircraft as we were not at terminal. They had Steak and Lobster meals from our catering as there is way too much for us to eat. Thur. 1-7. Fri, commercial/limo to SUU. Sat. SUU to HIK and Sun, Mon (R2’s) days in Honolulu. Tues, HIK to ELM. Wed., ANC to JFK and home Thur, of course on their dime.

BTW. An R2’s is a 12 hour reserve where there is no defined distance You need to be from airport. I have been called twice (not an exception) in 9 years when on an R2’s. It pays 4 hours. I had 4 OT days at beginning of month and expect to go home with 100+ credit at $270.00/hr.

I am not by any means senior here at K4. It is just how it is at the best kept secret in aviation. *as long as your lifestyle permits being gone for 16 and off 15.

It is amazing to me (second career guy) what pilots who have never worked a real job in their life complain about.
Similar here at Omni. Day 1 go to Base. Fly LAS-HNL, RON 2-3 nights, fly HNL-LAS, R1 or R2 for 2-3 nights, rinse and repeat for total of 6 flights all month. 36 block, paid 64. Very nice hotels and I’m diamond with Hilton....

Do I have to non-rev to get to a base or crash pad, nope, paid ticket on day 1, then rest period, then for the next two weeks fly maybe 7-8 legs, with travel to amazing destinations. If it was easy, everybody would do it. Man up, quit being a bunch of pussies.
When I was first hired at Kalitta, I legitimately had horrible nightmares of going back to the regionals. No joke.

Thanks for the interesting commentary on here. I had a CJO from both ABX and Southern Air, and maybe will just keep looking...
I agree that we all have different perspectives on what a "Dream Job", or even what is something we can "tough-out" until things improve. Sounds like senior pilots on this thread are comfortable, if not totally thrilled, and mid- to junior guys are venting. Is that a fair assessment?
Good luck, nothing moves without an initial push. Maybe all the 66 factors listed on this thread will provide some momentum toward better contract/ QOL issues.

Where's the thread for "reasons to work for them?" Be a darling and find that one for everyone.

Well, All the ATI and K4 threads seem to chant that message. Probably the closest thing to it. While some have made a career out of contract flying, do people wake up everyday and say, “Ya know. My life could be a little more complete if I just had something more certain.”

Seems like friends approach 30 and want to settle down.

You have a lot of regional pilots flooding the ACMI market. A lot of them jumpseated and had crash pads for years. With home basing, ACMI is a perfect QOL for them.
