We had a couple of people bail before completing OE. The APM tried to get their type ratings invalidated. But, FAA HQ overruled his actions. So, basically, you can walk out of the sim on LOE day and keep your rating. But, you head better be heading to a major (or, 5Y, who loves to steal our pilots) if you want to find a job. The privately held airline owners are on a pretty tight "good old boy network".

Has nothing to do with grabbing a type...you complete the 100/120 or back in the sim early for a PC...the type is yours once the ck ride is over.

Many people “pay” to get a type and never set foot in the aircraft. Once you pass the PC the temp is issued. You have full authority of the type. Nothing is stopping a guy from getting 500 hours as an IRO, log it as PIC and head to China and sell themselves as a Captain to get that 300K pay day.
