It's not just a common type rating. If your company operates 747-8 aircraft you need to complete the -8 differences training. An entirely separate/additional training course from the 747-4 type rating. Additionally, the -8 certification is not listed on your pilot certificate, it's required in the company op specs and part of the FAA and company training record. With that said, I'm up for constructive criticism, but you felt it necessary to write a couple of snide sentences, instead of a simple correction, so I called you a douchebag. Hardly makes me thin skinned, just intolerant of well, you know..

Guys, keep it civil. Please don’t let this thread also descend into unbridled name calling. There’s enough of that already on APC

I was Team Leader on the award winning Embry-Riddle Aircraft Identification Team. Do I have to sit right seat or is there a direct entry CA program?

Really! You must be a master of the obvious as this true with all common type ratings; kind of the point that it’s not listed separately.

The differences training is just that.. it covers differences. It’s not an entirely separate course and usually takes 2 days at most.

I don’t know about this one... if one or two snide comments makes you want to call someone a douchebag...
