Management rights, contractually we have nothing preventing them from turning a layover day into a R1 or R2.

There’s much more transparency with scheduling and way better work rules at these places. Unfortunately, I don’t think things will improve overnight. Scheduling is just operating under our contract. Just know that the 747 and 767 operations are night and day. 747= happpy times, drinking beer in HKG. 767 = work, work, and a couple beers on 1/7 in Ohio.

2 parts of the contract right here in which there should be waves to prevent this:

“Layover” may be designated on the Bid Lines in which no duty is scheduled and the Crewmember has no obligation to stand by for an assignment. A Layover Day may also include a Crewmember’s legal rest away from a Crewmember’s Base.

The Crewmember will receive a 4 hour credit towards his Bid Line guarantee or the actual hours flown, whichever is greater, only if Crew Scheduling actually assigns him a trip or reserve status (R3) or reserve status (R2) at the time of contact; otherwise he will remain in Layover Day status. Note which reserve status are mentioned.

Well the schedule as of late has kinda prevented that. You can’t even have a damn beer with dinner. Scheduling always has you on a damn R Status.

$440 on year one pay not to drink a beer for a day while at work on one of the 16 days a month while spending 14 days at home drinking as many beers with the $440 you earned while not drinking beer isn't bad. It only gets better when you're a captain.

That assumes you are over guarantee. Below guarantee you’re sitting reserve for “free”.

Not sure who you are talking to but in the current life I, operate, deadhead halfway around the planet, operate and then deadhead back to where I left to do it again. If you are not senior enough for DHL the recent scheduling on the 74 isn't all that much fun either.
