Kalitta Air (K4) Information

Okay so it's not common at all to break min guarantee unless youre picking up OT is how I'm reading that? Don't count per diem as income, gotta eat well on the road.

Yup. 76 guys don’t break guarantee generally. 74 is cutting back, but still has a good chance of breaking guarantee on a regular basis.

From the training department rumor mill: Full court press on ETOPS July-Aug. 777 is a funny looking and expensive pickup truck until it’s squared. According to the YIP Olympians, the hold up was due to the government shutdown and subsequent backlog. Having worked for Uncle Sam, that checks. 🙄

Horse crap... we havent edited a post in a couple years..... we banned a couple guys but them back. Essentially the only rule is no personal attacks. But yes if someone post lies they will be warned.....

I stand corrected. Post was in reference to the K4 767 FB page.

When you guys overnight in Hong Kong or Leipzig or other interesting locales, how long do you guys normally have? Enough to play tourist for a bit? Supremely envious of someone earlier in this thread who was noting he had several long Riga layovers a few years back.
How often are you guys interviewing?
Is hiring slowing down now that a lot of the Kalitta guys are flying a lot less on the 747 (I know the 767 never breaks guarantee). What are hiring projections for the rest of the year and next year with the 777s showing up?

Normally you have time to explore. You may be on an R2 which may limit the distance you can travel and precludes you from drinking, but even then you have a bit of a “leash”. In my short time here it seems I usually have about 30 hours. Sometimes less, sometimes more. You can also count on 1/7’s somewhere along the line each week.
We also do Turkish Cargo flying so junior pilots will often spend several days in Istanbul doing turns around the Med and Europe. Asia side it seems like you spend time in ANC. But results vary. So far none of my trips have been similar to the month prior. I’ve spent a few days in CVG pulling R2s (sweet ), but I’ve had time in Riga and Hong Kong. Ive learned not to get excited about anything on my schedule more than a week out.

Every "night" is in a hotel room. Bunks (or a business class sized seat if you prefer) are used for breaks during multi-crew flights. Most 747, and presumably future 777, flights are crewed with more than 2 pilots so you will have a break of some length on nearly every leg.
