It absolutely can. Hit refresh on that previously finely tuned app with one new work history entry. Just had a mil friend hit publish on his AA app as soon as he hit min time and is now in class 2 months later.

I guess I just know too many people that have had their apps in for a decade, like myself, that have been qualified with not so much as a speeding ticket or a single 121 hiccup that can't get called.

Yes I have done career fairs.

Yes I have had my apps 'professionally reviewed'. Nothing.

I'm very happy at Kalitta, but to say it's as easy as refreshing your app with a sweet 747 type is absurd.

Meanwhile I have previous students that have 3000TT/29 years old and just upgraded at the regionals getting called. Basically where I was 3-4 years ago. That's actually very common now. I very much get the feeling I'm not in their hiring window of experience they want, and I'm not even that old.

Said it can...didn't say it will.

You would think 40 people leaving would be more noticeable, but it hasn't been. Perhaps we still have 100 more FO's than we need to keep everyone very busy with 90+ hour months.

When you say 90+hr months, does that also mean 16+ days or do the hours still fit into the 16 days?

Its very doable to break 90 in your 16 (or was). Once you start getting around 100 it generally involves overtime.

I am a bit surprised about all of this hand wringing, fretting and threats to leave if the retirement increases are not big, from some of our pilots. My advice?

You have seen how K4 operates. If you are in love with this and see yourself staying for a career regardless of retirement benefits, (I don’t see significant gains in this area), then sit back, enjoy the longer overnights, job security, and wait for the next uptick to make big money again.

If K4 is not your forever airline get your apps out. Lots a others are hiring but it won’t stay that way forever. The worse that can happen is that you stay at K4. Still a pretty good job with a living wage. Remember though, there is a reason those other companies did not hire you before which caused you to be here. some self reflection and a good prep may be in order.

Sure do wish things had been this simple during the lost decade. Good luck to all and please do not let loyalty to the great people here at Kalitta stop you from moving on to what would be greener pastures for you and your family.

Just wanted to save this quote so I can come back to this freezing cold take in the future.
