I’ve been applying off and on for a few years now, didn’t have the jet time till now. Any idea when the next window will open?

Nobody seems to know. I think we are all hopeful for sometime this summer.

If you're just looking to get into heavy Int’l cargo flying, then apply to Southern Air for the 777. Go get the type and and some good experience flying it and then you’ll go to the top of the application stack at K4. SA’s min requirements are pretty minimum and a triple type will really make help you to get noticed by K4. This is all based on K4 being your ultimate goal, you’re lower time and you’re willing to take the risk of going to SA; Some would consider the risk very significant. K4 plans to have 5 777s by the end of the year and barely enough 777 pilots trained to operate one. There will be plenty of hiring this year, but they will honor the pool of people that have been hired and waiting, if they still are, and the pool of those already offered an interview, but had them canceled. You have some time. Also, take into consideration that they have lots of apps for high time pilots from overseas or previous Boeing wide body time.

If K4 isn’t your ultimate goal, I’d say stay put to get more jet and PIC time, and then apply to the majors.

To answer my own question from a few days ago.. i just got the call I’ve been waiting on for months now: March 10th interview class!!!! I’m stoked and a bit nervous all at the same time lol.. wish me luck! Been a long time waiting since the original October 9th interview date, glad to finally have the opportunity!
