Your opinion....its actually been happening quite a bit longer than the contract issue. It's a way to keep everyone in the game and controlled. No one gets it all. Suddenly the city's you are flying to today (which were serviced by xxx last year) are going to another carrier. You park an airplane here an airplane there...it adds up. Just saw a Swift aircraft in DHL colors....Mesa is supposed to be coming too. Along with Suncountry. I would not be buying new houses because of DHL expansion plans....here today gone tomorrow.

Has anyone at Kalitta Air ever passed up a mainline job/interview? Kalitta is becoming more of a career destination, but with many decades of work left it's hard to think of staying with the majors hiring so much. Thoughts?

I knew a few guys who didn’t take a recall to the major that furloughed them , and some who went back and miss K4 : )

I’ve been deliberately sabotaging myself kind of. I have a full mil aviation career behind me with all the accoutrements that would probably get me looked at pretty quickly. But......I am really digging the freight life and home basing. I think I’ll see if negotiations go our way this year. If not....I’ll probably have to go somewhere. I think there are a LOT of dudes here thinking the same thing.

I have to admit, I was on the fence when I got the invite for a major and even with the CJO in hand, I thought long and hard about it. Had I upgraded (would have gotten picked up in the bid right after I left last year) The decision to leave would have been extremely difficult. After all is said and I done, I am happy with my decision to move on, but have not doubts that I would have been happy to have spent the rest of my professional flying days with K4

The only people who should consider K4 their final stop are Captains over 50. Home basing is great and flying the queen is a privilege but you have a career and retirement to think of. Don’t waste any time trying to get on with legacies FX and UPS.

My approach right now is paying off all my debt and living like I'm an FO on min guarantee. If this place goes away in 10 years the guys that stayed responsible with their money could easily have 500k in cash no debt and a nice 401k.
I guess it's a good problem to have.
