I have been flying with a bunch of people I have never met before.
Of this group I have noticed a huge increase of pilots who do not tip van drivers.
Think of the difference $1 makes to your bottom line compared to the van drivers. Next time your driver takes forever, or never shows till you have made 3 calls asking where they are this is likely the root cause.

For the love of anything you find Holy, please stop with the reply all. I don't want to know what trips you would like to fly in OT, when you need off for your dance recital, or if you forgot your medical. Please just tell only those who have to pretend to care.

At least the smart a$$ responses have stopped for the most part. Nothing like 50 people piling on when 1 dude screws it up.

I completely agree with this.
I also fly with plenty of guys who have been around the block many times, here and elsewhere, who still do not tip. Because they're cheap, or some other made-up reason. Does a lousy ONE US DOLLAR really hurt you?

I couldn't agree more, Shroomwell. I think we should also consider that 30 years ago we were handing the van driver $1, so it might not be a bad idea to revisit whether it's a bit of an insult to give the same amount today, considering that their cost of living has gone up just like ours. I've heard many of us sit in the van and brag about how many hours we flew last month and how much we made. Don't think the driver isn't listening. Just my 2 cents.

To add, one should know the local customs regarding tipping. It is not customary everywhere and in some places considered rude. And make an effort to tip in the local currency. Unless it’s your first day of IOE there’s no excuse not to have € on you.

There’s always an excuse. It’s called I used them and just got back. I’ve never seen a van driver not accept US currency. It’s a piece of cake for them to convert and they all deal with foreign aircrews. You should see the look on an American van driver if you accidentally hand them a foreign bill though.

As much as I want to hit the "reply all" button on the email, I'll say it here instead... A terminal server is like an old dos prompt, but it is linux/unix for remotely running programs and doing system administration stuff. I have no clue as to why pilots would even be given access to that. You cannot access it via a web page url. Web pages run on web servers, through port 80 or 8080. Terminals use different ports and use clients to connect.
For the love of everything good, please stop hitting reply all.
