So the last classes of this year are Legacy ASA guys and girls. In the coming year will the rest of us be competing for fewer slots in a new hire class with an allotted % of the open slots given to legacy ASA folks?
And if I’m ex-legacy Expressjet does that help or hinder my chances?

First, there is no Legacy preference. ALPA approached the company with a request to offer interviews to soon to be distressed pilots. ALPA may approach about other ALPA carriers in a similar situation.

I would imagine that all of the slots next year will be filled by pilots the company interviews and hires. Call your friends at Express Jet, find out who is scheduling the interviews and ask to be included would be my suggestion.

I am presently trading a class with Express Jet pilots and the ones I have met are doing well in training.

Thanks for the insight Maxjet. We are all excited for the opportunities next year. Good luck everyone!

It was ALPA preferential hiring, does not apply to you unless you still worked there.
Examples of new FO's I've recently flown with... D.O. to a well known 135, Etihad 777 CA, Emirates 777 CA, Chief Pilot to a 135, various military, and some regional guys. It seams they pick from every group, but obviously heavy, mil, chief/DO/LCA/sim instructor qualls help quite a bit based on who've I've been flying with as of late.
And I must say, nearly all of them are pretty sharp guys.

Agree with No land.... I’ve flown with him a few times so I can say he speaks the truth. Except for the few who make it known they’re only here till brown or purple calls, and are abnoxious about it. Most of the guys are super cool and low key.

I just despise the holier then tho attitude. Some on here need to tone it down and quit being preachy. In your head it may sound one way, but to others it comes across another...... smile, be nice, and help your coworkers out.

I liked it when this place was more of a secret society.

The secret is out, pilgrim. Get over it...

Nobody here at K4 (including me, the largest ego in town) has the right to not be nice and help your fellow inmates. As a matter of fact, I would hope that the left seat folk of the tribe would make a genuine effort to mentor those who are coming up the ranks. We here at the center of the universe appreciate all the extra help we can get. Remember, the up and coming ensure you have a viable future here.

We are on the cusp of an exploding expansion. The next two years will make the last two look tame. Some of you will find yourselves in a position to be an international jet captain with not a whole lot of FO time to build a personal strategy. Please make the effort to talk frankly with the "good captains" that you fly with and seek their counsel. And, if you fancy yourself as one of the "good captains", please pass the legacy along. All our careers depend on it...

I have to tell you that those of us coming over from ASA are so grateful for this opportunity. For the last few years we have watched younger, less experienced pilots get hired by majors while we were bipassed and deemed too old and “untrainable”. Kalitta has proved them wrong. I have heard nothing but good things from those already there and I’m counting down the days until I start ground school.
