It’s my understanding that there is a way to tether the 767 ETOPS to the 777’s program. I’m not sure how that all works out, but rumor on the line is that the 767 will have ETOPS when the 777 does.

Are the engines the same type on both fleets ??
That would make sense then.
" (a)Propulsion system reliability for ETOPS.
(1) Before the FAA grants ETOPS operational approval, the operator must be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve and maintain the level of propulsion system reliability, if any, that is required by § 21.4(b)(2) of this chapter for the ETOPS-approved airplane-engine combination to be used. "
Unfortunately, the 777 uses GE-90's so it doesn't look like that is a possibility.
Unless they can use the reliability/maintenance of the CFM's on the 400 and the 767's have the same engines, maybe ?

Stimpy, since you have been away we have added quite a few 744 with Pratt and Whitney engines. It is possible that they may be able to use those reliability numbers as I believe the engines are the same.
