No one’s editing on that page also. More than likely the OP decided to remove the thread after looking like a fool.

To me at least, a three hour long flight in an RJ is far worse than a 13 hour long flight on the 74. With four pilots, bunks, comfy seats, and full catering, it's a peaceful and relaxing experience, most of the time.
One flight and your done most of the time. Long haul is the place to be. Just my own opinion based on my own experiences. And yes, pack walking shoes to explore Asia and Europe, you will have ample opportunity to do so.

When we lived on guarantee ‘11-‘13 , you would often sit for close to a week in Dubai, Liege, ANC, or Riga, not the worst way to spend a
layover , though Dubai in high summer was a challenge, doing a week in EWR, or JFK adjacent to Brooklyn, Manhattan, Hoboken brought no complaints either, I could never get more than 3-4 days in HK, things were always moving there, the business started picking up in mid 13, and by ‘14 the long layovers were starting to become a fond memory, ACMI is like the sea, ride the waves 😎

If I had a week off in Dubai, I would go skiing. I guess the IMAX isn't bad either. Minus everyone on their phones or talking to their neighbor.

Default Interview

I’m currently scheduled for an interview with k4. Does anyone have any recent experience with the interview process? What to expect? I applied for the 747 position, is it a guarantee to get the 74 or will I get offered the 76 if I’m offered a job? Thanks

It’s still the same as what K4ALPA posted. Go to aviationinterviews.com and there’s tons of specific interview info.

They will ask you your preference, but may only be hiring into one of the fleets. Up to you if you want to wait on one vs the other.

Surprisingly not specifically addressed by (most recent update here):
https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/2830505-post1659.html

: At a lot of carriers, you’ll show up for indoc and there you’ll have a chance to bid among your class for a specific fleet. Here, the question of fleet preference was first asked in the phone interview, and again during the YIP interview. What is important to note, is that the tone of the question, and at least specifically stated to me, was that there had been a negative experience (or several) by the company of individuals being offered a position with the fleet type not their first choice, and then declining the offer. Plan accordingly.
It’s only been the most recent six months or so that folks have been getting a more scheduled class date vice ASAP start. That’s what I got: the impression that “we’re going to give you your fleet assignment, and your start is in 16 days, take it or leave it.” Hiring has slowed some since. You might be given an option of “you can start _____ in 7X7 fleet, or wait until ____ for your preferred 7Y7 fleet.”

...maybe. Maybe not.

Hope this clarifies.

It's worth considering that if everyone ends up flying min guarantee, it makes no difference which airplane you are on for pay, beyond the small difference in perdiem.

Yea thanks for the responses. I have been curious about the testing that they do during the interview. K4alpa just says cog/personality but I’ve been reading some people get an atp test other people don’t. Not sure how they make that determination. Thanks again for the responses.

Really enjoying all the insights from K4 pilots.

I know they interviewed a large # of folks in both April and May - not sure when the next interview date is.

I'm on the outside applying and I know folks who were there on the April and May interview dates.

Are they still going to be hiring ~ steadily the rest of the year with the 777s showing up or are things slowing down a bit? The general trend amongst the K4 B744 guys who post here is that the last 2 years they were making good $ between flying above guarantee and readily available OT but the last six months or so it seems to have dried up.

Does K4 hit any of the job fairs?
