World Interview Info

The interview process at World is a two-day process. Most of it takes place at Air Inc. in Atlanta. The first day you get some briefings and then you do testing and a short sim ride. The testing is web-based and consists of six sections...two each of math, vocabulary, and personality. Fairly easy. The simulator is a desktop sim programmed to resemble an MD-11. It is particularly pitch sensitive. The profile involves a takeoff, climb out, turning climbs and descents at 250 KIAS and 1000 fpm. Your FAGO (flap and gear operator) will set your power for you on the takeoff and initial climb; then you've got them. He will set courses, flaps and gear for you.

They give you a pretty comprehensive briefing prior to the sim. After the takeoff, climbs and descents, you are told to intercept a radial and proceed inbound to a VOR. You have to tell your FAGO to set the "inbound" course. You are asked two holding questions...such as what direction will you turn to enter holding, what type of entry will you make, and what is the inbound course. If you get both of those questions right, you are told to intercept a course to an NDB. Once established, you may be asked what direction you would turn to intercept a different course. Then, you will intercept the localizer, slow down, configure (The other guy operating the sim will set your speed bug for you), and fly the ILS using raw data to a landing...YOU MUST LAND from the approach!!!! Stay on centerline and stop the aircraft.

You will have two interviews the following day if you are invited back. One with the chief pilot and another pilot. They will look at your logbooks and ask some fairly easy questions...why you want to work here, etc,...do your homework!

The personnel interview is very easy and relaxed also. Basically, if you can fly the sim, meet their qualifications and they like you, you will be given a class date sometime. They rank order everyone who interviews and hire the best-qualified candidates first. We are hiring all the time now from internal recommendations only. It's been a good place to work so far.

Good Luck

Bill

Bill, thanks for the info.... I heard they ask basic technical questions, but not too difficult! If you happen to think of any more details please feel free to contact me via e-mail.([email protected]) Although I meet the requirements and have an internal recommendation I keep hearing different stories regarding my possible interview. One person says "my times are not competitive" and other people there say they are and I should get a call?!?!? I don't know....Just sitting here with my fingers crossed.
