UPS/FedEx Raising The Bar

I have noticed that UPS has added a new requirement of having transoceanic experience. Is this hard to get seeing as to how the Regionals don't do any of this (At least to my knowledge)? Also, FedEx has reduced the number of pilots they plan to hire. Did this just eliminate a large percentage of applicants to UPS. Will FedEx do the same? Will this force the major airlines to have to pay more so that pilots will not up and leave once they get the "transoceanic" experience? Is this GOOD or BAD??????? Thanks all!

What?

I think you need to edit your post and make it a bit clearer.

Fedex and UPS both fly airplanes and deliver stuff. That's where the similarities end.

I think they just want you with more experience since they are one of the most paying guys out there I guess they want the best. I think your best bet would be to go to some major after the regional and get the exp.. That would be my opinion.

When you're basically the only game in town and there are maybe a million guys looking to go to work for you, you can set whatever standards you so desire. However, just because a person has heavy international experience, doesn't make him or her "better." I've seen guys who couldn't find their ass with both hands (flying internationally), but of course, a prospective employer wouldn't know that.

I would guess that is has to do with the fact that you are going to be hired directly into an aircraft that does primarily long haul, heavy int'l flying. If you think it is because they want "the best" and if you think "the best" is the heavey int'l time....pass the chiba over here. I'm way out of currency.
