Vacation Slide Problem
 

Just seeking some info/advice on a problem with my vacation slide. I am getting an error message in VIPS:

FCS-657 12hr Buffer Required between Reserve Periods

I've got Reserve A carryover thru the 4th and my May bid award was Reserve B May 1 thru 6 (first four days dropped for conflict). I tried calling vacation scheduling and crew planning/analysis, but only get voice mail (planning and analysis won't be back until Monday morning). Since the conflict window closes at 0500CT on Monday, it would seem I have a big problem as I REALLY need to slide and extend my vacation. Any ideas for the poor newhire???

What exactly are you trying to do?

Have you tried to waive the vacation buffer?

Sounds like it hasn't processed your RA 4may and RB 4may conflicts yet. I would leave them a message and call them first thing monday morning for help.

Not yet, but I'll give that a try.

You may need to wait until the bid month opens and then try to drop the carry over reserve days.

Section 7E2b: You needed to slide your vacation in May to conflict with the carry in before the April bidmonth.

You can't expand to take out carry in (as I read it) and you have to slide the month prior, so you would have had to have slid your May vacation prior to the April bid month. Not sure why or how you do that, but I think that is the problem.

I think it has because I got a crew notification yesterday after the bid award that said the 1 thru 4 May Reserve B days were dropped for conflict. But I will try calling first thing Monday if I can't figure-out how to fix it myself. I just hope it isn't a problem if the conflict window is closed...

If you are trying to move it to the right (from Apr 30 to May 5th) I'm not sure why it won't let you. Its only 2 days of vacation (12 hours), so you will only be able to expand it to knock out 18 hours (and be 6 in the hole) which would only give you 3 R days off. (3 X 4:33 = 13:39. 4X4:33 = 18:12.) You can't expand to knock out the carryin, but you can slide it backwards to knock out 3 of the days of carry in, which days are you trying to knock out?
