There’s no base offer.
Junior base is ANC for 6-9 months then it’s whatever you bid and where they need you although some bases are more senior then others.

Took me 96 hrs.
YouTube 747 systems is 25 hrs in 53 video’s and I can highly recommend it.

Then there’s Sweater Guy

That channel has the 767 too. Is this the same material Atlas uses?

It should be noted the 6-9 months is not an estimate and only that. A few years ago people were spending over a year in ANC. With the very large influx of displaced crewmembers and little attrition anymore you could very conceivably see over a year in ANC before being able to bid out. This of course depends if Atlas changes plans on not expanding. If we expand or when after the two certificates merge inside the next couple years again time frames might shift. Anyone coming online now I would suggest they be comfortable with commuting to the Junior bases for at least a year or more.

It is not the same CBT’s that Atlas uses. I use it for my own personal studying from time to time. I can’t vouch for all of it because I haven’t seen all of it but from what I can tell it is solid.

My 2 cents for anyone who is planning on studying systems before showing up to class is to get a broad strokes understanding. Wait till systems class or at least being on property working with your study group, and an instructor available to ask questions before you really dial it it. Especially if you’re not previously familiar with a Boeing.

There are some flashcards online for 767 limitations. I remember them being good when I was getting ready for new hire. I’m not sure if they’ve been updated. We’ve had a good amount of changes to our limitations chapter since the last time I viewed those flashcards. So use them with caution if you do plan to use them.

Actually a lot of people saw this coming. At least everyone who didn’t get swept up in the pilot shortage mythos these last few years. Any argument to the contrary about cycles etc. was met with ‘but muh retirements!” to the point where it just became tiresome trying to argue with fanatics.

I have a crazy question:

I was offered a job at Southern last year and really wanted to take it. I liked everyone I met at the interview, and liked the lifestyle that the schedule offers. After I accepted the Southern job (before accepting a class date), I was offered my dream job at a legacy. I explained the situation to Southern and turned down the job offer.

Now I’m looking at a most likely furlough on 01OCT, and was thinking about taking a LOA and applying at Atlas of Southern again as I don’t think I’ll be near competitive for any flying job then should the furloughs go as deep as people are saying. I love where I am at now, but would also gladly sign any sort of contract so a new employer would get their money’s worth out of onboarding me.

I’m obviously humbled to be where I’m at today, but also am regretting a bit that I had the opportunity for a bit of job security and seniority should I taken the job at Southern.

Thanks for the insight.

There are a lot of pilots who will be in your position very soon. As sucky as Southern is, you bailed on them. Most HR departments won’t do “do overs”. Best of luck.

What was the question exactly? Are you inquiring if you can re-apply? 1 year from the job offer that was declined. You can always try and see if they will call you up. But the jist from what I got from Chief Pilots and HR is they require a year from the offer.

I know, thanks. It really came down to dollars and cents, and it just did not make sense at the time to leave that on the table, c'est la vie. Fortunately we have our finances in order and a furlough won't be a drastic change in lifestyle.
