USA Jet Airlines

Can any USA Jet pilots give me info on DC-9 training, QOL and flying time? From what I've heard, the company seems like a good place to be.

Check your PMs for an alternative if you're interested in flying DC-9s and MD-80s.

Can’t comment on the $$$$$ differences. Maybe you can post the differences. But where else does one have the opportunity to check out on a DC-6?:)

The difference between a 60 hour guarantee at EAC and a 45 hour guarantee at USAJ? That alone can be a bunch. Especially when business is slow and no one is making guarantee (July/August) in LRD.

In that case, the Alaska fish haul makes up for that when guys come up from the L48 base to supplement the ANC pilot roster.

The trip pay makes up for that by far. Thats an extra 35,000/yr min, based on 65 trips a year avg being 60-70 if you dont pick up extra days on your 14 off. My friends on the 9 there (USAjet) all did over 100 first year. All of them. So that's 106,820 not including per diem or 401k contributions for a first year capt

Honestly if I could take the pay cut and divorce I would ABSOLUTELY apply for the 6 position. Would be really really cool to get typed and fly that thing!

Flies like a four engined Piper Aztec. Also, EAC has a respectable DO at the helm.

By the way... mistake ONE... you should have married a woman who could support you in a manner you want to become accustomed to :).

Hahaha I hear that she knew what she was getting into but overseas and specifically Alaska were her 2 demands so... is what it is sadly. Looks like a helluva lot of fun though!

I've been here 18 months, I'll make 130K this year without selling days. Got whatever days off I wanted. I like 4 or 5 on 3 or 4 off, but they'll build whatever. I had a 5 year hiatus after AA's bk, but this is a great place. Full pay beginning DAY 1, no training pay BS. Normally the same time zone for trips, 3-4 hrs max. It's a secret because everyone looks at the hourly rate. Mine is $150 with a 45 hr guarantee, but I fly 5 or 6 trips per month. I had the type, but they'll pay for that if you need it. I never did the commuter gig, so not sure what they want, but 300 hrs per year. Very laid back, perfect retirement spot. Fire away...

121 Supplemental cargo is a great retirement gig. Not so good for young guys trying to build time for the majors though.
