No that’s completely understandable, not everyone has a lifestyle conducive to being gone for that long in a row. I’m more talking the people that think it’s a ball-busting 16 days. I fly about the same legs in an entire month sometimes as my other half does on a 4 day.

That is the truth. A year ago I was flying 20-24 leg, 4 day trips. This month I will fly 16 legs in 14 flying days.

I will say the flip flop, day to night back
to day flying is taking some time and discipline to adjust to. I’m pretty sure I’m not getting 6-8 hours of deep sleep during those schedule changes.

I am a husband and father, like many pilots in ACMI land. The days away at a time aren’t easy, but it’s not as bad as you think it would be. The best feeling is getting home knowing you have almost two weeks before you even need to pack your bags again. By day 10 or 11 at home, your spouse will wonder when you’re leaving again

I disagree, I know a lot of ACMI guys personally that went back to the regionals because they couldn’t handle being gone that long or handle the brutal changes in schedules...
It’s not for everyone for sure!

Which means, if they contact you, they can ask you to work but you can decline no harm no foul.
The other days off, if you pick up the phone, then they can Junior Man you if they so choose. This is, more or less, standard throughout the industry.

If you’re interested in ATI, the online app window opened today and closes on Dec 11’th.

Hope this helps,

Standard through the industry????

No, standard through the industry is when you are on your days off, you are off. Scheduling can call, beg, and plead, but accepting the trip is completely your prerogative. This for every day off, not just five.

I know I’m critical of ATIs contract, but I promise I’m not trying to be a hater here: junior manning on days off is NOT industry standard. I don’t know of any other airlines (even regionals) that still do that.

You can’t get junior manned if you don’t answer the phone... Just don’t answer phone calls from random numbers on your days off.

Can they get you on your last day as you're pulling in with a message to "contact scheduling"?

How much actual flying are ATI guys getting in a month, hour wise ?

I assume when you go to work for the 16 day block, you are not sitting around, you are flying, correct.

Well obviously. Or you could just have an industry-standard contract that says your days off are actually your days off...
