A fry cook at McDonalds in Germany receives a full medical plan, 3 weeks of vacation, sick leave, and he/she works 36 hours a week. They’re paid at a minimum €16/hr ($18.25).
You think the EU is gonna change and turn on its law abiding, socialist loving people so amazon can sell Chinese crapola for pennies on the dollar? NEVER... EVER.... gonna happen without a political revolution that would destroy the world economy. Amazon is riding a wave of popularity that it will enjoy for years to come, but just like Walmart, they will peak and hit a plateau. They will not rule the world.
Oh, and a Big Mac is $6.54 in Germany.

I never said or implied that AMZN would try to use underpaid contractors in Europe like they do here in the US. However, they could use a bunch of your “fry cooks” to staff their needs. They probably make less than current DHL staff.
I have no idea how this will play out. However, I think we will find out over the next couple of years. There is no doubt AMZN has their sights on global expansion.

Ignore the idea “buyouts”. But you’re on the right track JK about a joint venture of some kind here in North America. While I believe those discussions have cooled off substantially, I guess you could say “never say never”.

Do you think it'll be 17 work days?

You don’t understand EU labor laws.... you don’t get to protect one group while you Fannie rape the others. They don’t play over here in Europe when it comes to workers rights, which explains why they are all basically socialist when it comes to benefits. Brussels would never allow Amazon to “contract out” hundreds of thousands of jobs so they can bypass paying for the all benefits employees get.
Make America even greater, AGAIN!!

Those sappy Europeans, with their health care that doesn't end if they change/loose/retire from jobs! It must really suck having your elected representives looking out for YOUR INTERESTS rather than looking out for America INC. At least in America we respect the rights of Big Business and it's sponsors to collect as much personal information as they can about us, any way they can, to make lots of money knowing everything they they can about where we go... blah blah blah...
..back to the subject..
Amazon has 31 fulfillment centers throughout European Union. Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic (or is it ‘Czechia’ nowadays?) and Slovakia handle most of Central European Amazon sales.
Fairly recently Amazon unveiled its 5th logistics center in southern Poland, just outside Katowice (kah-toh-vee—tze).
UPS began flying in there shortly thereafter. I believe DHL serves the airport as well. How about Fedex? Are they flying in there? (KTW/EPKT)
One way or the other Amazon will have to expand its air operations. It could be through internal growth OR a buyout of some kind. Time will tell.
